Step-by-Step guide

Mural Member Log In Process

Option a: ALL members accessing Mural MUST have an account in Okta by going to https://auth.devops.va.gov/

Option b: ALL new users are to please submit a ticket to the ICAM Service Desk: https://jira.devops.va.gov/servicedesk/customer/portal/89 to create an OKTA account if you do not have one.

After an Okta account is established, you can then request for a Mural membership account by following the steps below:

Step 1:

For Mural access - please use the form Request Tool Access - DOTS Service Desk - Service project (va.gov) to request for the membership

A DOTS Team Administrator will process the ticket and the new user receives a Welcome email with an Activation link with a 7-day expiration date:

Okta supports PIV as the primary authentication method. Please note that Mural login using username/password has been disabled.

For external users and VA users with exemption, or non-PIV holders, username and password + MFA will be allowed to avoid disruption to daily work activities. Your Mural account will not be changed/moved/duplicated.

Step 2:

Go to https://mural.co and click the person icon as indicated below:

Please note that all Okta and Mural accounts are linked by your VA email address, therefore you will continue with your VA.gov email and PIV/CAC Card in place.

For external visitors/guests, please use the email you were invited with, placing it in the Work email space. Mural will continue to be accessible even from outside of the VA network.

Step 3:

Click the Mural Sign In tab or Create an account tab below:

Step 4:

If you have a GFE using a PIV/CAC card, the system may request that you authenticate your log in credentials with the certificate information assigned to you:

If your Windows Security window pops up, enter your PIN, click OK and continue with the prompts:

Enter your PIN as requested from your ActiveID login and you will see the PIV card authentication processing for a few seconds:

Step 5:

This will bring you to the Okta Sign In page:

Continue to follow the directions on screen to complete setup.

First time users will choose the MFA option for verification, either by email or phone:

Step 6:

You will receive a 6-digit code by phone or an email (depending on which MFA verification option chosen) that you will enter into the code field:
