Mural Member Log In Process
Option a: ALL members accessing Mural MUST have an account in Okta by going to https://auth.devops.va.gov/
Option b: ALL new users are to please submit a ticket to the ICAM Service Desk: https://jira.devops.va.gov/servicedesk/customer/portal/89 to create an OKTA account if you do not have one.
After an Okta account is established, you can then request for a Mural membership account by following the steps below:
Step 1:
For Mural access - please use the form Request Tool Access - DOTS Service Desk - Service project (va.gov) to request for the membership
A DOTS Team Administrator will process the ticket and the new user receives a Welcome email with an Activation link with a 7-day expiration date:
Okta supports PIV as the primary authentication method. Please note that Mural login using username/password has been disabled.
For external users and VA users with exemption, or non-PIV holders, username and password + MFA will be allowed to avoid disruption to daily work activities. Your Mural account will not be changed/moved/duplicated.
Step 2:
Go to https://mural.co and click the person icon as indicated below:
Please note that all Okta and Mural accounts are linked by your VA email address, therefore you will continue with your VA.gov email and PIV/CAC Card in place.
For external visitors/guests, please use the email you were invited with, placing it in the Work email space. Mural will continue to be accessible even from outside of the VA network.
Step 3:
Click the Mural Sign In tab or Create an account tab below:
Step 4:
If you have a GFE using a PIV/CAC card, the system may request that you authenticate your log in credentials with the certificate information assigned to you:
If your Windows Security window pops up, enter your PIN, click OK and continue with the prompts:
Enter your PIN as requested from your ActiveID login and you will see the PIV card authentication processing for a few seconds:
Step 5:
This will bring you to the Okta Sign In page:
Continue to follow the directions on screen to complete setup.
First time users will choose the MFA option for verification, either by email or phone:
Step 6:
You will receive a 6-digit code by phone or an email (depending on which MFA verification option chosen) that you will enter into the code field:

All users will be directed to the Okta SSO dashboard showing the App/s you are members of.
The Okta Dashboard will show your Mural tile to access the app.
Click on the Mural tile.

Step 8:
You will seamlessly be routed to the Mural Homepage:
If you previously had Rooms, Murals, etc. in the workspace, you will open to your Mural dashboard:
