Accessing the CX Insights Conditioned Data Layer can be accomplished through SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), a Microsoft software application. Follow these steps to effectively connect and work with CX Insights.

Prerequisites

  • SSMS Version: Ensure you have SSMS version 18.x or later.
  • Download SSMS: If you are using a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), download SSMS from the Software Center. Alternatively, request it through YourIT.va.gov.

1. Open SSMS:

Launch Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio on your computer.

2.Connect to Server:

  • When the "Connect to Server" dialog window appears, enter the following details:
  • Server name: vac20vdwasynprod.sql.azuresynapse.usgovcloudapi.net
  • Authentication:
  • SSMS 18.x – 19.1: Select "Azure Active Directory – Universal with MFA Support" from the drop-down menu.
  • SSMS 19.2 or later: Select "Microsoft Entra MFA" from the drop-down menu.
  • Username: Enter your VA email address.

3. Expand Connection Options:

  • Click on "Options" at the bottom of the dialog window.

  • Under the "Connect to database" dropdown, enter the database name: sqldbprodcxdw.

Note: If you encounter any issues connecting with the database name, try removing it and reattempt the connection. Leave all other options as default.

4. Sign In and Connect:

    • Click the "Connect" button to initiate the connection.
    • If prompted, sign in using your VA email address certificate.
      • Note: For most users, this will be "Sign in as current user".
      • If not, select X.509 certificate or another appropriate certificate that matches your PIV card identity.

5. View Database:

  • Once connected, the relevant database should be visible in the left-hand sidebar of SSMS.
  • If you also need access to DEV or PPD environments, please contact the CX Insights Team to get the correct server names.
